Ball Auction and Realty Group Part Two

Tuesday, August 26th, 2008

In case you missed part one here is a link.. http://www.photographybyjayme.com/wordpress/archives/1381

On Saturday Gwen and I travelled to Bourbon, IN to photograph the Border Estate for Daryl and crew.  We had a blast.  It was so much fun for us, there were a ton of people there and Daryl and his crew were on a roll.  I won’t bore you with words, I will just show you pictures….

The staff! (there is one missing from the photo but I don’t feel too bad for her because I guess she was off enjoying a vacation)  Oh and big waves to Kacie who is the short one in the front row.  She is Daryl’s right hand girl.  She runs all over the place for him.

I had to post this picture… it was one of those you had to be there moments.  Daryl had everyone cracking up and poor Larry was at the other end of the joke.  Really I don’t know how he has stuck with Daryl so long.

Lana takes time to pose for a pictures (hey guys she is single!!) <– Daryl said I could mention that.

Here is the info on the above thumnails…. Steve and I, me doing what I love, my dad and Chet visiting, and the final picture is Becky who is one of my blog stalkers.  Thanks Becky for coming up to me and introducing yourself.  You and your hubby are super people, hopefully I will see you guys again soon.  And this final image is a shot I took of my purchase.  I bought this old camera.  I thought it looked neat and I like that it came with the box.  I will have to do some research on it.  I know nothing about old cameras.

ball-bourban-2008_257-copy.jpg

Thanks everyone for making the day so much fun.  I can’t wait to work with you all again.  And stay tuned.  I hope to make a quick slide show with images from both weekend because I have so many good shots.  And, tomorrow I will have a special post.  Daryl enjoyed having his picture take so much he decided to have me take more on Sunday.  Sunday’s has nothing to do with auctions but has alot to do with his other passion….FLYING!

Hamlet Taste of County

Friday, August 22nd, 2008

The festville was alot of fun.  I think I was the most blown away at how much fun the parade was.  My kids loved it.  I plan on posting a video with a bunch of the images I took but give me a couple days.  I will put a link to it on this post.

First I want to tell our buddy Jim congrats.  He is a friend of my husbands, and a super sweet guy.  He also knows how to cook on the grill.  He won 3 out of the 4 categories in the grilling contest.  Here is Jim showing off the first plaque he got that day…

Ball Auction and Realty Group Part One

Thursday, August 21st, 2008

Friday I travelled to Kouts, IN to the Shutske Family Farm to document Ball Auction in action.  Daryl Ball, the owner of Ball Auction and Realty is having me come to a few of his auctions and photograph him and his staff.  The photos will be used to update their website but also to document what Daryl and his family have done for years.  I will eventually make a coffee table book for them.  Daryl is a close friend of my father’s and has seen the “Project Dad”, where I have taken photos of my dad farming, and decided he would like me to document a portion of his life also.

I am just going to post a few pictures because I still have shoots I will be doing this Friday and Saturday but before I post them I wanted to mention that Daryl is an amazing person, he loves what he does and he is very good at it.  And his staff is awesome, they were great to work with (espically his daughter Lana who is super sweet and super cute)  I really enjoyed myself at the auction and I can’t wait until this weekend.  If any of you blog readers are free Saturday morning head out to Bourbon (just don’t forget they are on eastern time).  Oh and make sure you say hi to me, I will be the one with the two cameras hanging off me.  I think Gwen is coming out to help me also.  Here is a link to the sale info… http://www.ballrealtygroup.com/auctions_current.htm  He will be selling some amazing antiques.

Okay and now for some photos…..

Daryl in action…

kouts-aug-2008_090-copy.jpg

this is one of my faves…you can just tell Daryl is a sweetheart by this photo…this was totally candid, not posed at all, he might not even knew I was taking his picture because I was using my 70-200 lens (my big one) so I was really far from him.

See ya all this weekend!!

2008 Ancilla Nursing Grads

Thursday, August 21st, 2008

The last couple years I have taken photos of the Nursing Grads at Ancilla.  They need a head shot to send in with testing and then I make a composite that goes on the wall at the college.  I finally have the composite done.  If you want to order go on my storefront to find it.  http://www.photographybyjayme.com/store/ If you know any of the students please pass the info on in case they wanted a copy of the composite.

They should have it up at the school within the next couple weeks I am sure.

Samantha is in Kindergarten

Wednesday, August 20th, 2008

My oldest started school last week.  I can’t believe it is that time already.  Anyways here are some photos of the big day….

I took her to school the first day, glad I did, it is crazy there… (and yes she looks tired, wouldn’t you be if you had to start school at 7:20 am)

august-2008_01-copy.jpg

We found Jake (my nephew) in all the choas, so I had to grab a picture of him on his first day back.  And today (August 20th) is a special day for both me and Jake, it is our birthday.  So happy birthday Jake.  It is soo cool that we share our bdays.

august-2008_03-copy.jpg

I sat outside on the porch and waited for like 20 minutes for her to come home.  And for the record I never cried.  Special Fact… Samantha has the same bus driver and kindergarten teacher that Bob and I both had.  Isn’t that awesome.

okay, this next picture isn’t school related but it is Samantha related.  Back in July she entered the below drawing in the Starke County Fair (open class) And she won her age group and got Res. Grand Champion overall.  We are so proud of our little artist.  Some day she will be famous for her art.  Oh and she likes photography too, so you never know we may have a mother-daughter business some day.

Just wanted to say hi to everyone I worked with on the shoot last Wednesday.  I can’t post pictures that will be used in publication so I figured I would post some behind the scenes shots.

First is Dawn doing makeup.  Dawn is super sweet and has done some amazing work.  Check out her website… www.subhastarmakeup.com

2008 Jernas Family Reunion

Monday, August 4th, 2008

With the help of my good buddy Gwen we managed to take my family’s reunion pictures.  Every 5 years we get them taken.  Just want to say sorry I didn’t get to spend more time talking to everyone, with the pictures and then doing the kid’s games I just didn’t have time.  I know there are several people I would have loved to hang out with.

First off here is the entire family.  Anyone want to take the time to count us all???  I will give a bozo button to the person that does.  (My mom wins the bozo button…she is pretty sure there is 92 of us pictured here, sounds good to me!)

img_0155-2008-jernas-reunio.jpg

Here is the “John Jernas Family”!  Very sad though that Grandma and Grandpa are gone.  We are one good lookin’ family aren’t we.  LOL

img_0136-copy.jpg

Here she is…. Aunt Clara who celebrated her 90th birthday this July.  She was amazing us all with how good she got around.  She even ran a few steps as onlookers yelled at her.  We love you Aunt Clara!!!!

img_0032-copy.jpg

I have to post this one.  Isn’t Kyle’s family soo cute.

img_0006-copy.jpg

Thanks Kyle and all the people that were able to come early so we got everything done right away and could do the important part of reunion…. (EATING!!!!!!)

Blast from the past…. From 1948

1948-jernas-reunion-1.jpg

Pictures are now up on the storefront…. www.photographybyjayme.com/store   Images won’t be cropped on there, the prints will be cropped.  If Kevin or I don’t have your email maybe you could email it to me.  I have thought about doing some type of photo share where we put whatever images we have on Disc and give to each other so we all can have them.  Espicially the ones like the above image from 1948.  my email is jaymegoetz@yahoo.com

Starke County 4-H Fair Part 2

Monday, July 21st, 2008

I have already been asked where part 2 is….so here you go gang. I took a ton of photos and most will be in my storefront in the next couple days. I will post a link when I am done. Here are just some of my faves from the rest of the week.  Since there were so many I wanted to show I did some quick collages of them.

first let’s get some pics of my kids out of the way…

bunny.jpg

stick-horse2.jpg

Our Stick Horse Fun Show for the kids was awesome.  Didn’t have a ton of kids but it was hot and a couple weren’t in the mood, but the ones that rode were super cute, espicially the big kid(aka Liz).  Sorry Liz that is what you get for being a nice person and helping out with the kids.

stick-horse.jpg

By the way big thanks to The Specialty Shoppe in Knox for donating the ribbons!!!

I didn’t get as many shots of my dad at the fair as I wanted.  (for my project dad) However… I really like this shot of him talking and holding Brandon at the draft horse pull.  I don’t think dad did the pulling but he had a team of draft horses for a long time while I was growing up.  The team that is pulling is Ronnie Clemmon’s horses.  He is dad’s friend from Lakeville.

Mom took these next two shots of the horse and pony grand entry.

Still to come….Samantha’s Res. Grand Champion Fine Arts Drawing.  I need to take a picture of her with it.  Wait until you see it, she did an amazing job.

Starke County 4-H Fair Part 1

Tuesday, July 15th, 2008

The Fair is underway!!!  Here are just a few of the photos I have taken so far….

My grandpa John Jernas who past away earlier this year won the Memorial Award for everything he had done in the past years for 4-H.  My uncle Larry, uncle Don and my dad Ed where given the award in his honor.

fair1-july-2008_042-copy.jpg

Two of my favorite 4-H’ers… Ian Ferch and Kyle Hinds won the scholarships.  (way back when I was in 4-H I was a scholarship winner).

fair1-july-2008_039-copy.jpg

Speaking of Kyle…(Kyle helps me out with weddings) he won King!!!  And one of my seniors I shot this past year Katie Surma is Queen.  (remember Katie’s picture with the draft horses, one of my favorite senior pics I took last year).

fair1-july-2008_044-copy.jpg

Here is the entire court.  Some of those faces have been on my blog before.

fair1-july-2008_043-copy.jpg

On Sunday I spent the entire longggg day at the horse show.  But it was fun hanging out with old friends and the 4-Her’s and lovin’ being around the horses.  Here is Danny on my little white horse.  He did awesome with her.  Won Senior Showmanship!!  He still has a couple classes left to show her in.

fair1-july-2008_085-copy.jpg

I love the parade….

fair1-july-2008_098-copy.jpg

but my favorite thing to photograph at the fair is……  THE PIG SCRAMBLE!!!!  just in case you don’t know what it is…it is just so much fun.  the kids get their hands covered with crisco so they are slippery and then they are sent off to go grab themselves a pig, they catch it and wait for an adult to grab it from them.

fair1-july-2008_113-copy.jpg

Cooper Kooper Broker (I think he said his first name is Cooper  Kooper, someone correct me if I am wrong) Anyways, I felt sooo bad for him when the pig slipped right out of his hands…

fair1-july-2008_135-copy.jpg

On of my faves….this kid wasn’t going to wait until the adult came to help him, he had lost this pig once and was not going to let him get away again.  I just love it.

fair1-july-2008_138-copy.jpg

I took lots of pics from the pig scramble and other stuff at the fair, I will put them in my storefront after the fair is over.  Off to go jump in the shower and head back to the fair.  And don’t forget about the stick horse show Wed. night at 6:30- be there or be square.  (yeah I am old).  Oh and tonight I hope to get a picture of Samantha with her picture she entered, I am not going to say how she did yet, go see it for yourself, she drew the rainbow that is just to the right after you enter the open class building.  (let’s just say it has a big ribbon on it!!!)  Oh and the photo of my dad leading our horses in the snow got Grand and I am thrilled because that is one of my favorite pictures EVER, so it is awesome to get Grand with it.  Oh and one more thing, look for some of Tish Cooper’s(aka blog stalker) pictures she entered some really good ones, I think she got Grand Creative Photo with a bw/color shot.  (it is on the grand champion wall), and my cousin Lauren has a photo along with us.  Lots of great photos this year!!!  See ya at the fair.  -Jayme
