Wedding: Krista+Josh= beautiful fall wedding

Friday, October 17th, 2008

Ever heard of a unity tree???  (me neither)  Instead of a traditional unity candle Krista and Josh planed a unity tree.  And for favors they gave their guests seedlings.  What an awesome environmentally friendly thing to do on their special day.  Oh and they used pumpkins for centerpieces.

I have to say big thanks to all the family for making sure things went smoothly.  Greg (Krista’s dad) did a good job of making sure Gwen and I were taken to and from locations in the golf cart.  Everyone made our day fun.  Not gonna write a ton of stuff, just gonna show lots of pictures.

Grace & Clinton get married in Chesterton, Indiana

Thursday, September 25th, 2008

These two got lucky…Sunday before the wedding it rained so much it flooded the area of the park where they were to get married.  I heard the day before the park got enough water pumped out so they could use the bridge to get to the gazebo.  Of course we could still smell the water since it sat for several days, but at least it was gone from the bridge.  Okay, enough talk, here are some pictures…. (and yes that is one huge gazeboo, the huge wedding party along with several of the guests fit inside)

  sept2008_083.jpg

The awesome part about having two shooters is for these reasons… the following photo is my view of the ring exchange….

And here is Gwen’s view. I just love how Grace is looking at Clinton.

Erin and Darin got married!!

Wednesday, September 17th, 2008

As soon as Gwen and I got in the car she is like that was my favorite wedding.  What we loved was how even though some little things went wrong (nothing that Angie couldn’t fix with needle and thread) Erin never got upset and Darin I don’t know if he is capable of getting upset.  The entire day was just so easy for us to document.  And usually dealing with a huge number in the bridal party isn’t easy but everyone was super and just did their part.  Erin and Darin you have some great friends and family!!

This was my first time shooting at Ancilla Chapel.  If you haven’t been there before, it is super dark, but also it is amazing.  I think we got some stunning pictures from there.  Here are just a few of my faves….

Here is me and Angie (one of the bridesmaids)  I posed with her because she is super women, if you know her you understand.  If you don’t know her…well she was sewing dresses like crazy prior to the wedding and really is there anything she can’t do???  We were in 4-H together and had lots of fun.  I was also in 4-H with her brother Steven who was nice enough to take this photo for me!!

Ryan and Elisha’s Amazing Wedding

Wednesday, September 10th, 2008

Ryan and Elisha met in Culver so they decided to get married in Culver.  Elisha is super sweet and Ryan is oh so much fun.  They totally compliment each other.  And they have some AWESOME friends and family members.  I had so much fun shooting them.  (By the way, big waves to everyone, thanks for making my job sooo much fun!!)

I have to say I think overall this was my best wedding.  Elisha asked for several different locations and I was able to spend alot of time shooting so I got a ton of amazing shots.  And everyone knows that Culver Academy is my favorite place to shoot. I do have to say Gwen and I got a workout though.  We walked our butts off, and poor Gwen did so carrying a light stand and whatever else I told her to carry for me.   Here are a few of my faves from the day….

porterfield-sept08_005-copy.jpg

Look at these hot bridesmaids!  (we had order some golf carts to be moved for this shot, they were right in our way, Beth took charge and got it done for me-it was so worth the effort.)

porterfield-sept08_024bw-copy.jpg

Loved these kids.  Sam and Trevor did a good job getting up in the tree all by themselves.

porterfield-sept08_060-tdw-copy.jpg

This is the kind of fun I had to deal with all day.  Not too many people can pull off a look like this…  These guys had me cracking up all the time. (By the way thanks for the point and shoot camera recommendation, I went and bought one last night for my hubby!)

porterfield-sept08_075-copy.jpg

these next two images I took of the kids while they were in the balcony waiting for their time to walk down the aisle.  the kids were so good and so easy to work with.

porterfield-sept08_130bw-copy.jpg

porterfield-sept08_139-copy.jpg

Elisha was stunning coming down the aisle and Ryan got alittle emotional seeing her, it was so sweet.

porterfield-sept08_173-copy.jpg

porterfield-sept08_192-copy.jpg

I love bubbles….

porterfield-sept08_220-copy.jpg

this next shot looks good in color too, the sky was so blue and we had puffy white clouds right then, had a hard time deciding which I liked best

porterfield-sept08_291bw2-copy.jpg

when we started walking towards the lake Ryan was on his iphone, next thing you know he updated his facebook to let everyone know he was “officially off the market!”  How funny is that.

porterfield-sept08_296-copy.jpg

porterfield-sept08_298-copy.jpg

 love those blue skies!

porterfield-sept08_328edit.jpg

My fave shot of the day was during the reception.  I just love this shot.  I use to do this with the girls basketball team all the time…. remember Britta, Candi, Laura, and Amy.

porterfield-sept08_449-copy.jpg

And I have a funny story to end this post with.  I was out shooting Elisha and Ryan way out by the lake which is a long walk from the church, and Ryan gets a call that if my car isn’t moved in 15 mins it will be towed.  I am like oh crap.  So I asked them to stay with my car so I could finish shooting and then I ran and found this violation on the car….

porterfield-sept08_330.jpg

Sorry campus police.  LOL  We won’t block the road ever again.  LOL

And just one more big thanks to everyone for such a fun day… moments like this one of Ryan’s brother trying to get in my way of a shot makes me smile.  porterfield-sept08_427.jpg

Merrideth+Steven+Family= A wonderful day!

Tuesday, August 12th, 2008

I didn’t get the chance to meet Merri and Steven in person before their wedding since they live near Chicago, but I knew I would just love Merri by our phone calls and emails, and I got lucky that she was marrying a super sweet guy.  I have never seen a groom look at their bride they way he did.  He really was in awww over her.  Okay, enough talk here are the photos….

Christy & J.T. Got Married!!

Tuesday, August 5th, 2008

After doing their engagement session I really couldn’t wait until their wedding day came and I have to say, it was above my expectations.  I knew Christy was an organized person and I knew by just the invitations that it would be fun and colorful but believe me all us guests were in for a treat with this one.  Really this was my favorite wedding… why???

1.  Christy was super organized and allowed plenty of time for everything, soo much so that when I sat down and looked thru the schedule it said to eat at 6:30 (or whatever time it said) and that is when we started eating, like to the minute according to my watch.  That just makes my life easier when things aren’t rushed.

2.  Christy knew she couldn’t be in charge of everything so she enlisted reallly good people to be in charged of decorating, coordinating the wedding, and the reception.  Those people were to make sure everything ran smoothly and it did.

3.  Christy got the best vendors and all did amazing work.

4.  Christy and J.T. are just the sweetest people and for me so much fun to photograph.  Oh and they had a fun bridal party too, that always helps.  It is just too bad J.T. didn’t tell Travis to arrive at the wedding like 30 mins. earlier then he needed to.  (just teasing you Travis)

Okay enough talking about how amazing the wedding was let me show you….. let’s start with my fave shot of Christy and her hot girls….

Christy really did an amazing job on all the little details.  Here are several of them, and believe me I have a ton more of detail shots I could post if I only had time….

First off here is my famous “ring” shot.  (yeah that is what someone called it while I was taking it at the reception.  Believe me I didn’t invent it, I just have a hard time taking pictures of hands so I decided to do something fun and easier!  LOL)

Ben + Brittany= LOVE

Tuesday, July 29th, 2008

Well, Brittany got married.  This is tough for me, I remember her when she was in elem. playing basketball.  It was bad enough taking senior pictures for kids I knew when they were little, but this wedding stuff gets to me.  Yeah I had to fight the tears a few time, I admit it.

Anyways, it was a beautiful wedding, and you don’t want to read more of my ramblings so here are the pictures….

let’s start off with this picture….most brides get walked down the aisle by their father, well this one got driven up in a VIPER!!!!  (Gwen caught this awesome shot)

Brian+Amber In John Deere Green

Tuesday, June 17th, 2008

This wedding was special.  I have known Brian his entire life.  He is like me, we grew up living around here and once we got married we just couldn’t live anywhere else.  We will forever be in Brems right Brian!!!  He topped me though, he even got married in Brems at the Davis Weslyan Church.  (yeah I drove about 2 miles to get to the church)

I have known Amber for several years.  I have done photos of her and her sisters.  Plus everyone in the farm community knows her and her dad.  They both work at John Deere.  Which I think is awesome that father and daughter work together.  That doesn’t happen often.

Both families were awesome to work with, and made my day so enjoyable.  Thank you so much.  I hope you enjoy the photos.  I will post the proofs online in the storefront of my site by tomorrow.

Elizabeth’s Garden is FIVE!

Monday, April 28th, 2008

Last weekend I went to Elizabeth’s Garden in Culver for their 5 year anniversary.  It was so much fun.  Samantha and I went and shopped, and ate, and ate some more.  Jody Rodgers sells tastefully simple and had samples all over the shop, I went from table to table trying things out.  I ended up buying the the beer bread and some taco cheeseball thing that was amazing.

Anyways, here are just a few snapshots that I grabed, it was kinda hard to take pictures with food in my hands, but I managed okay.

(she has a ton of crocs, they are on the back wall also that isn’t in the picture- I walked out of there with three pairs  LOL)

img_2559-copy.jpg

vera bradley purses rock, and she has a ton of them, (I own two)

img_2561-copy.jpg img_2570-copy.jpg

img_2564-copy.jpg

And here she is… Elizabeth herself.  (I call her Liz)

img_2568-copy.jpg

And here is Samantha carrying all of our goodies.  LOL  Afterwards we walked along the beach there in Culver.  We had mother/daughter bonding time.

Elizabeth’s Garden

Sunday, January 6th, 2008

Elizabeth contacted me about taking some photos of her flowers and of course I jumped at the chance since they are always so stunning.  We were lucky enough to have Alexia model for us for a few minutes after she was done with the fashion show.  (email me in case we need you again, you were fun to work with).

Anyways, I snapped a few while we were at Christos and then Elizabeth let me take some home so I snapped a couple in the snow on the way home from Plymouth, and the one by the wood is at the Starke Co. fairgrounds figured since Elizabeth and I spent alot of time there that would be a fitting place to snap a shot of her flowers.
