Starke County 4-H Fair Part 1

Tuesday, July 15th, 2008

The Fair is underway!!!  Here are just a few of the photos I have taken so far….

My grandpa John Jernas who past away earlier this year won the Memorial Award for everything he had done in the past years for 4-H.  My uncle Larry, uncle Don and my dad Ed where given the award in his honor.

Two of my favorite 4-H’ers… Ian Ferch and Kyle Hinds won the scholarships.  (way back when I was in 4-H I was a scholarship winner).

Speaking of Kyle…(Kyle helps me out with weddings) he won King!!!  And one of my seniors I shot this past year Katie Surma is Queen.  (remember Katie’s picture with the draft horses, one of my favorite senior pics I took last year).

Here is the entire court.  Some of those faces have been on my blog before.

On Sunday I spent the entire longggg day at the horse show.  But it was fun hanging out with old friends and the 4-Her’s and lovin’ being around the horses.  Here is Danny on my little white horse.  He did awesome with her.  Won Senior Showmanship!!  He still has a couple classes left to show her in.

I love the parade….

but my favorite thing to photograph at the fair is……  THE PIG SCRAMBLE!!!!  just in case you don’t know what it is…it is just so much fun.  the kids get their hands covered with crisco so they are slippery and then they are sent off to go grab themselves a pig, they catch it and wait for an adult to grab it from them.

Cooper Kooper Broker (I think he said his first name is Cooper  Kooper, someone correct me if I am wrong) Anyways, I felt sooo bad for him when the pig slipped right out of his hands…

fair1-july-2008_135-copy.jpg

On of my faves….this kid wasn’t going to wait until the adult came to help him, he had lost this pig once and was not going to let him get away again.  I just love it.

I took lots of pics from the pig scramble and other stuff at the fair, I will put them in my storefront after the fair is over.  Off to go jump in the shower and head back to the fair.  And don’t forget about the stick horse show Wed. night at 6:30- be there or be square.  (yeah I am old).  Oh and tonight I hope to get a picture of Samantha with her picture she entered, I am not going to say how she did yet, go see it for yourself, she drew the rainbow that is just to the right after you enter the open class building.  (let’s just say it has a big ribbon on it!!!)  Oh and the photo of my dad leading our horses in the snow got Grand and I am thrilled because that is one of my favorite pictures EVER, so it is awesome to get Grand with it.  Oh and one more thing, look for some of Tish Cooper’s(aka blog stalker) pictures she entered some really good ones, I think she got Grand Creative Photo with a bw/color shot.  (it is on the grand champion wall), and my cousin Lauren has a photo along with us.  Lots of great photos this year!!!  See ya at the fair.  -Jayme

Chelsea and our 2 hour adventure

Friday, July 11th, 2008

I met Chelsea at Amanda and Wes’ wedding.  I am sooo glad she called for me to do her pictures, she is stunning.  Chealsea is a Senior at Plymouth High School.  We had a real adventure at her photo session.  We did studio first…

then headed out my dad’s wheat field, but by the time we got there it was raining, not hard but enough to have to cover my camera and Chelsea with an umbrella.  So we grabbed what we could and moved on to the railround tracks…  (yeah I am hard on umbrella’s, both were broken, but hey they did their job)

luckily the rain let up a bit at the tracks, but then a train appeared heading towards us.  I don’t mess around with trains, they are big and mighty.  We got plenty away and in plenty of time, but I still grabbed a couple shots with the train in the background.

Then we headed to Knox Park because she wanted to do some by the river.  The problem was, shortly after we got there it started pouring rain.  Luckily I found us a spot we could just keep shooting, however we had to walk on rocks in the water.  I didn’t have too much trouble but poor Gwen did because she had to carry around my light.  rice-july-2008_43bw-copy.jpg

Really I need to rename my senior sessions to One Hour Adventure or Two Hour Adventure.  (Chelsea decided to go for the Two Hour Adventure, that is why we got sooo many looks)  Thanks again Gwen for your help on this one!!!

Stasha- Just For Fun!

Thursday, July 10th, 2008

Stasha agreed to let me do some fun photos that I have been wanting to do for awhile.  First we stopped at my dad’s wheat field and then I have been wanting to do some downtown type photos for awhile but just never have.  I found an awesome brick and we shot away.  Thanks Stash for doing such an awesome job and big thanks to my mom  (aka Debbie Jernas) for helping by holding my light, otherwise I wouldn’t been able to use it because it was wayyy too windy.

This next one didn’t look like this right out of the camera, I spent awhile in front of the computer to give it a different look, I think it works with the awesome brick color.

***Don’t forget High School Seniors I am looking for several people for Saturday July 19th to do some fun stuff at the Starke Co. Fair.  I already have one girl from Plymouth willing to go out and take some fun stuff, but I would really like some Starke County kids, espicially 4-H’ers.

Stasha- Fun With the Crown

Thursday, July 10th, 2008

Stasha enjoys her duties as Miss Kankakee Valley so much she wanted some fun shots with her crown.  Before I post pictures I wanted to post a link to Heather’s website.  Heather did Stasha’s makeup for the shoot.  She does an amazing job.  If you are near the Bremen area make sure you check her out…. http://www.heathersspastudio.com/

One of my favorite gals that I love to photograph had me do some shots of her with her crown (she is Miss Kankakee Valley), anyways I asked her if I could do some fun stuff afterwards because I wanted some downtown urban shots but just never took the time to do it.  Well, I am thrilllled with what we got.  Here is just a quick preview to show Stasha because it might be a few days until I get your post up.

A Few Announcemnents…

Monday, July 7th, 2008

**2009 Seniors if you need a session prior to school starting back up please call me right away.  I only have a few dates left due to me shooting so many weddings, and I won’t do any sessions during the week of the fair.   July 19th is the only Saturday left for July/August.

***Photography by Jayme is willing to sponsor a couple teams for the Corn Hole contest that will take place Thursday July 17th 6pm  at the Starke Co. 4-H Fair.  If you are a current customer or one of my Class of 2009 Super Seniors and you would like to participate let me know.  I will only be sponsoring a limited number of teams so contact me right away if you are interested.  (teams of two people)

***Photography by Jayme and The Speacility Shoppe in Knox are sponsoring the Stick Horse Fun Show Wednesday July 16th at 6:30 at the Starke County Fair.  Kids have to be 5 and under.  They need to bring their own stick horse.  This will be the third year, and let me tell you it is sooo darn cute.  All the kids get ribbons and there is no entry fee.

***Pay one Price For Rides at the fair are Monday evening and Saturday (not sure what time Saturday)

Harper at Two Weeks- Part ONE

Monday, July 7th, 2008

Be prepared that you will see this little girl on my blog alot in the upcoming year.  This is her thrid apperance (well, one time she was still in mommy’s belly but hey it counts).  Brad and Jana are so good to my kids.  They call them Uncle Brad and Aunt Jana.  After they left yesterday Samantha looked at me and said Aunt Jana is so nice.  Really though, they are so good to kids in general.  Seems like kids flock to them.  Harper is one lucky girl to have them as parents.  Okay, and now for the pictures… lots of them.  (oh and check back later I am going to do a body parts collage and I will post that later)
