Last Saturday I went to the 5th and 6th grade OD girls basketball tourney, I had a blast and so did my kids.  I just love basketball!!

The 5th grade team lost in the final game by 2 stinkin’ points.  They just ran out of steam.  (ask Brandon, that is what he told my mom too).  I am so proud of them though.  Although I do have to say the Argos team they were playing was pretty darn good.  The OD 6th grade team dominated big time and claimed their trophy.  Here is the 6th grade tourney champs….

I have a feeling this group of girls will get several chances to raise the trophy up in the air, they are awesome.

Here is a picture of one of my favorite players Riley… she is one of my faves because one day I got the nicest comment from her on facebook out of no where.  I don’t forget things like that.

And here is Brandon with Kimberly who is one of his girlfriends.  He likes girls that can carry him around.  LOL

EDIT TO ADD:  Pics are now in the storefront.  I do have some pics of some girls on the other teams, I think I grabbed some of Argos and South Central.  If you see someone you know, please let them know.  (Becky G- I am talking to you)

They can be found here…  www.photographybyjayme.com/store

One last photo of the OD Lady Cats Varsity Basketball team.  I took their picture the other day for the wall.  Was fun to hang out with them.  (sniff, sniff, gonna miss the seniors)

Gabi had 31 points despite South Central’s tough defense.

I just love these girls….

The Lady Cats beat South Central Tues. night at home during senior night.  I really feel bad for SC because I think they really are a good team but it was senior night and the crowd was huge and it has to be hard to be in the Bobcat Den and face our girls when they are pumped up more then usual.

See everyone at sectional!  GO LADY CATS!

Northern Indiana Basketball: OD vs. North Judson

Thursday, December 10th, 2009

OD beat North Judson girls the other day (JV and Varsity).  This friday night the Lady Cats will welcome the Knox Lady Redskins to the Bobcat Den.  Should be a great game so if you don’t have plans come out and  support the teams.  JV game starts at 6pm.

Back to the OD NJ game… (Defense was key!)

In case you didn’t know the lady cats wear shoe laces that represent a cancer.  They all have had family or friends battle cancer.  The green band was special for that game to honor Christina their manager.

I met Christina Rotering and her mom May 2008 at the OD relay (do you guys remember that??)  She is a super sweet girl and happens to be the manager of the Lady Cats.  She is holding a shoe that was made by the Elizabeth’s Garden team.  It is a replica of the girls shoes.

Before the Varsity game Lou Ann from WKVI radio gave a little talk to the girls.  I went in because well, I am Lou’s body guard.  (inside joke)  It was special to have Lou Ann at the game, she is usually stuck at the station working during the games.  And she loves OD because when she was little she use to go there.  (BTW did ya know I live in the house Lou Ann grew up in, yeah small world)

And someone that is a familiar face to the local sport scene… Harold Welter from WKVI.  He is UNBELIEVEABLE!!!!!

Lou Ann wrote alittle article about the game and she posted some pictures too, which by the way are pretty darn good Lou!!  Once we got her setting in her camera she fired away and got some great captures.

Thanks WKVI radio for always doing such a good job and for supporting our local young people.  And kuddos to the Lady Cats for caring about others and wanting to do something nice for someone that is having a rough time.

PS  What happened in the locker room stays in the locker room!

Northern Indiana Photographer: OD Lady Cat Poster

Tuesday, November 10th, 2009

Tonight is the first regular season game for the Oregon-Davis Lady Bobcat Basketball Team. (Tues at OD 5:15 pm central time)  OD Fans also know that is when the posters are available.  You wouldn’t believe all the e-mails and all family family that has been bugging me to see the posters.  Thought I would let everyone finally see it.  (PS  Harold Welter asked what we were doing for the poster awhile back and I didn’t even tell him, kinda mean considering everything Harold does for all of us, but am I good at keeping a secret or what)

2010 LadyCat Poster

Gotta say huge thanks to my buddy Nichole Frank for helping me out setting up the lights and the shot.  She really helped Kelsey with her mean look.  LOL  FYI Nichole is pregnant but she can still pack a mean punch…

ODPosterSept09_30

Me, I am not pregnant, just been eating too many chocolate donuts, and I am a wimp, but I can look mean crazy…

ODPosterSept09_29

We had a fun time at the shoot.  I about took out a ceiling fan when I moved one of my lights.  Wasn’t funny at the time, but hilarious now since the fan didn’t break and the ceiling didn’t come down on us, only damage done was to one of my umbrellas, but every time I look at it I think of the Lady Cats!

Good luck girls, I am excited about the upcoming season.  Play your game, stay healthy and I know you guys will be fine.  Special lovin’ to the senior girls that I have watched play since they were little.

Oregon-Davis 5th & 6th grade boys

Tuesday, February 3rd, 2009

Indiana basketball at it’s greatest.  I had the chance to watch the 5th and 6th  grade boys again last night.  It was so much fun.  My nephew Jake got to start which was cool for him since I was there taking pictures.  Gonna post a few pictures but before I do I just want to say good job to the coaches (Coach Taylor and Coach Schnekenburger).  I coached 6th grade girls way back (before I had kids) and it is alot of work, you don’t get paid much, but it is soo much fun being around the kids.  It is neat when you go and see the kids play on the Varsity level.  (And it makes you feel old when you photograph their wedding and take pictures of their baby. LOL)

Gonna start out with a picture of my favorite Bobcat.. Jake..

Oregon-Davis Senior Night

Wednesday, January 28th, 2009

Fun times in the Bobcat Den last night.  First off it was senior night, always get alittle teared up when that happens.  I think I seen Coach Minix having a moment when the national anthem was playing.  I bet he was looking up at the State Championship banner and remembering that special time.  (I know I was, I hope we get to have more state memories)

THE SENIORS!!!odgbb-seniornightjan09_28-copy

Randy Johnson was honored because he has been running the scoreboard for 40 years.  He is also a past OD Bobcat basketball player and his daughter was a past Lady Cat basketball player. odgbb-seniornightjan09_92-copy

Had to share this photo of  Harold Welter from WKVI.  (I use my hands to talk too Harold)

odgbb-seniornightjan09_97-copy

Was cool to see that the girls dug out their “fat heads” from last year.odgbb-seniornightjan09_91-copy

Here is Jake and Drew, obviously they love Nicole and Kelsey.  Aren’t they so darn cute.  I wish someone would walk around wearing an I Heart Jayme shirt.  Do I need to make up my own shirts for that to happen???  Andrea… that could be your ticket to making another blog post.odgbb-seniornightjan09_08-copy

And since this post is about basketball thought I would throw in this shot of Justyne.  Really I should be posting one of Aubrey but she has been on my blog so many times lately.odgbb-seniornightjan09_44-copy

About the game…Senior Aubrey Minix had an AWESOME senior night!!  She scored 41 points (ties  breaks the Oregon-Davis record for most points in a game).  She made 11 3-pointers.  (that beat her own record of most 3-pointers in a game)  You can go to my storefront and look thru all the photos and see several of Aubrey shooting the three.  (I didn’t post them all- only the good ones) www.photographybyjayme.com/store  Also I think Caley had a double, double, if not she came pretty darn close.

In case you were wondering…. why is Jayme posting so much OD Basketball photos.  A few reasons…. I graduated from OD (a few years ago LOL) , played basketball (wasn’t very good), I love to post stuff about kids involved in their school, Bob’s cousins Sam and Aliva are on the team, I have been taking pictures of the Lady Cats for 10+ years.  (Do I need to go on??)  I wish I had more time to go to other schools in the area but with two little kids it just can’t happen, plus I am so not a sports shooter, even though I LOVE it.

One quick annoucement…. the reschduled game against Argos that will be Saturday Feb 7th is at 5:00 and is at OD.  That is according to Terry and the School.  I doubt I will be there, we have a birthday party for a special relative we will be attending and not sure if I can do both.  Bummer.

Oregon-Davis Boy 6th Grade Basketball

Friday, January 23rd, 2009

My newphew Jake plays on the 6th grade team so I stopped over there before I headed to LaVille last night.  Here are a few shots.  More will be on my storefront later today. www.photographybyjayme.com  (click on the image to enlarge)
