Indiana Wedding Photography: Craig and Rachel Northwest, Indiana

Thursday, July 1st, 2010

Warning, lots of photos from Craig and Rachel’s wedding.  First one of my faves.  Rachel had marked on my checklist that a special piece of jewlery she had was a ring that her grandmother had given her.  Well I got lucky and caught this special moment with her and her mom where the ring just happened to be showing.  I so got lucky, if I was smart I would have posed for a shot like this.

Bob’s view (I love this shot, super creative)  These were taken at the same time.  I am positioned right in front of the guy to the right of the photo, just out of the frame.

Here is Rachel with her girlfriends that she went to Saint Mary’s with.  They flew in from all over, California and Florida.

After the wedding we went to Rachel’s mom and dad’s home and her dad has a really nice garden.  I thought it was fitting to put the rings on a flower in the garden.

Oh and look at these cute gals.  They fed me some good food before we headed to the reception so I had to share a photo of them.

On our way to the reception we stopped at Deep River Park and it was beautiful.  I have never been their before.

Here is one of my favorite of all time wedding photos.  Note to other photographers: no I didn’t add the sun flare, the sun just happened to be in the perfect spot.

One of my favorite moments was when the Saint Mary’s group got together for a picture and left this sweet lady in charge of all the cameras…

Is that 5 cameras she is workin?

I have to say big thanks to Rachel, Craig and their families for making Bob and I feel so welcome.  The wedding ceremony was early so all stopped at Rachel’s mom and dad’s house and took a little break and relaxed and it was so nice to visit with everyone.  Her mom and dad have a wonderful garden.  I am jealous but also know I couldn’t handle the hard work involved in maintaing something that large.

The next two photos Bob took.  He once again was so much help to me and such a great help at the event.  If he isn’t busy shooting he jumps in and helps out with anything they need.  I love that about him.

Oh, I better mention this… The location for the wedding and reception is Brad’s family farm.  He grew up there.  How cool is that to get married where you grew up.

I am sure they are so glad they rented this bus.  It worked out perfect.  They hung out in there until the weather cleared so they could get under the tent.

One of the highlights of the evening was the toasts.  Mike- Brad’s father started the evening off with one of the most touching toasts ever.  One thing that followed thru the day was how blessed this couple was.  The weather seemed to clear when it needed to and Mike mentioned how Brad’s mom had always prayed that he would find the perfect bride.  How could it not be a perfect day with Brad’s mom praying since he was little for this day.

It rained outside of the tent, but it didn’t dampen the party because it was a full dance floor all night long!

Kyle Hinds was the DJ  (highly recommend him)  I love when he does the anniversary dance and then talks to the last couple standing on the floor at the end.  This couple was so cute.

As I mentioned Brad and Lindsay had a blessed day.  All weekend it rained and was hot, but right before the ceremony it cleared and we were able to get pictures and they were able to have their wedding and then it started to pour.  I felt terrible to everyone helping with the food and stuff.  They got SOAKED.

Here is the storm front moving in…

Huge thanks to everyone for such a wonderful day.  It was a hot one but really no one complained.  Everyone pitched in and helped out during the day.   I know I posted this on my facebook but have to share here… When Bob and I left we said by to Mike (Brad’s dad)  he said, “come back anytime”  I told Bob that he would just die if we showed up for dinner the next day.  LOL

Oh and have to mention that Lindsay’s dad was in awww of his daughter all day.  She is a beautiful girl but I think seeing her as a stunning bride was just awesome for him.  Bob is going to be just like that when Samantha gets married.

Everyone was just so nice and we could relate to them so well.  My family is so much like Brad’s.  We all live near each other.

Gwen took one of my favorite shots of Sarah and Thad….

I grabbed a couple shots of Kyle and Gwen. Kyle wasn’t behind the camera at this wedding, he was the DJ. (yeah he can do it all) It was awesome to work with Kyle, he was great at keeping things moving. Something I loved was when he did the dance for married couples. He even interviewed the couple married the longest. I think it was when the dance floor was the most packed.

Gwen grabbed this shot of me, Julia (Sarah’s sis) and Justin (Julia’s boyfriend). I shot both of their senior pictures. I will never forget either of them. Julia’s was in the winter and freezing cold, and Justin’s I did some awesome welding shots.

craft-dec-2008_439bw

I have known Sarah and her family for years. Marilyn was my 4-H extension agent the last year or two of my 4-H career. Their family has always been very active in 4-H as is mine. As I mentioned the day was sooo darn cold. The drive to the church was terrible. However once Gwen and I got there everything went smoothly. Thad (which by the way is such a sweetie) was so cute how he paced back and forth before the ceremony. And Sarah had her nervous moments, but once they were together at the alter it seemed all nerves ended and they just enjoyed the day.

Huge thanks Wickert family for always asking me to capture your special moments. I feel honored. Thad and Sarah you are perfect for each other and you will do just fine I know it, you both have great families that will support you.

Thanks to all the vendors for being so easy to work with, espicially Jean who is the sweetest videographer ever. I felt so bad that she had to drive all the way back to bloomington in such terrible weather, but I am glad I got to work with her.
