WOW!  What a day it was.  We have had such a nice cool summer and on Brooke’s special day it is so hot and humid we were all melting.  Oh well it was a good time despite the heat.  Elivis and Marilyn were awesome.  I even got my picture taken with Elvis… (excuse the hair it started out down and actually looked pretty good but then I couldn’t stand it sticking to me so I threw it up without even looking in a mirror)  Brooke laughed at me for getting my picture taken with Elvis, but I am like, when will I have another chance to meet Elvis.

Thanks Brooke and Cliff for the fun time.  I hope your honeymoon was a relaxing one, you both deserve it!

Indiana Photographer: Go the extra mile, it’s worth it!

Sunday, August 9th, 2009

I got a facebook message this morning from Brooke.  I shot her wedding yesterday.  The first line in the post said.. “Thanks so much for being my photographer!!”  It made me feel really good about myself.  It also reminded me how important it is to go the extra mile.  I am saying this because Brooke is happy I was her photographer yet except for a couple glances of the back of my camera she hasn’t seen a single picture of the wedding yet, but she is glad I was her photographer.  So she is happy not about the photos I produce, but about the fact that Bob and I helped make her day go smoothly.

I think all of us that are in the service industry need to remind ourselves to try to do a better job then what our clients expect.  Brooke didn’t expect me to have bobbi pins on me.  When I pulled them out she was shocked and appreciated she didn’t have to go back to the dressing room to get some.  I don’t claim to have all the answers or to carry everything with me, but if it can be fixed with duct tape I’ve got it covered.

Thanks Brooke for making my day with your facebook comment, and I am so glad I was your photographer too!!!

Culver Indiana Wedding: Mark and Lindsey

Friday, July 31st, 2009

Gonna start off with my favorite photo of the day.  This was the photo Mark requested because he asked Lindsey to marry him by the lighthouse.  Isn’t that so sweet that he wanted a picture there.  Also Bob (aka my hubby, aka assistant for the day) and I worked together to get this shot, he did an awesome job holding the reflector for me and finding great light.  Teamwork.

One last shot.  When I walked into Washington Twp. Building I was blown away. Mark and Lindsey did an amazing job hanging lights up in the ceiling.  I don’t think I have ever seen it done like that.  BTW Bob and I had our reception there too.

risner-july2009_450bw

I am tired.  It is after 1am and I just got done editing the wedding and posting here on the blog.  I usually don’t stay up late to work because, well frankly I need my beauty sleep, but I have been soo busy this week shooting that I had to burn the midnight oil and get this done.  I usually have weddings posted on the blog two or three days afterwards so I apologize to all of you for the delay.

Anyways, Mark and Lindsey have been friends of mine and Bob’s forever.  I use to do the horse thing with Lindsey and Bob some fishing with Mark.  (I am pretty sure Mark was there that day I caught like 10 fish, remember that, I totally out-fished the guys that day)  Sorry I am having a hard time focusing since it is so late.  Well, I am really happy for you guys and am so glad you asked me to photograph your special day.  Bob and I had lots of fun and it was so nice that we knew just about every guest.

I almost forgot, I wanted to post a picture of Thad, Elizabeth and Victor.  Lindsey was brave and even held Victor before the wedding.  (me, I would have been worry about spit up, but Lindsey didn’t care)  And yep Victor has a little tux onsie on, too cute…

I know what some of you are thinking (espicially Diane J.).  Why would you get in the river and the pool in your wedding dress??  Why not?  The Trash the Dress session isn’t really about trashing the dress, actually no dress was harmed in creating these pictures, it just got wet.  No problem though because it was headed for the cleaners anyways.  Actually it had a couple stains on it from the wedding day.

The reason we do the session is to create photos couldn’t be taken on the wedding day, and also to create additional memories before the poor dress gets stuffed in a box for eternity.  Jessica and her mom Tammy had been planning so long for the wedding and then the day comes and goes so quickly.  It was another chance to get the dress back on and have some fun.

I can’t take credit for the pool part of the session,  Elizabeth (from Elizabeth’s Garden) is the one that came up with that idea.  She knew we were doing the shoot because she made the bouquet for it and she called me up and told me what she was thinking.  Which reminds me I have to tell Donna L. huge thanks for the use of the pool.

Thank you so much Tammy and Jessica for such an awesome evening!!!  I couldn’t have asked for easier people to work with.  I hope you are talking about it for years to come.

***Big Favor*** I need to know which image is your favorite (yeah you, the person reading this).    So please leave me a comment and tell me your favorite one or two images.  I would really appreciate it.  PS  I fixed it so you can leave comments, I forgot to check the box.  Thanks Lori for letting me know!!!

Indiana Photography: Bridal Shoot

Tuesday, June 16th, 2009

Can’t post too many pictures from this shoot since it was a Bridal Shoot.  I will for sure share after the wedding, but I wanted to share a couple because I really liked shooting it.  This was my first Bridal session.  What is a Bridal session you are asking????  A shoot prior to your wedding.  LOL

Several reasons to do a Bridal shoot….We got some super cool shots, she got to do a trial run on hair (found out the veil needs to be secured differently), makeup and dress, we got to have alot of fun doing something different, oh and it is less photos we need to take that day.  Yes of course I will still take some that day, but if there is a time crunch that is one less thing that we have to worry about.

So here are just a couple shots, pretty much just of the flowers.  Elizabeth’s Garden will be doing their flowers for their wedding.  I love working with them.  They just flat out ROCK!

Wedding Published in Michiana Brides Spring/Summer

Wednesday, May 20th, 2009

My favorite photo from JT and Christy’s wedding was published in the Michiana Brides magazine.  They featured outside locations that are great for weddings and engagement pictures.

Here is the photo.  By the way my best buddy and assistant Gwen Kaylor is the one that took the picture.  Congrats Gwen on getting published!! messer-august2008_152-tdw

Hamlet and Koontz Lake Fire Depts at OD

***  The photos are from mock accident that was at OD schools.  This was not a real car accident. (thought I better stress that because it felt pretty real being there) may-2009_05

I brought Brandon with me.  He was in heaven, he was surrounded by girls, and he got to watch all the firemen.  I think he was showing Aubrey which one was Grandpa Goetz.may-2009_69

Kudos to everyone involved.  I was standing next to Kaylee when Mrs. Awald (she was playing the mom of student role) ran out screaming for her daughter, we both looked at each other and could of cried.  It felt so real.

On a personal note… I lost my best friend when I was a junior in high school.  Lisa Marie Danti  She was in a car accident the week before my junior prom.  I will never forget it.  I remember it all like it was yesterday even getting the phone call at my house and not believing the caller.  I know there are others out there there that have not so long ago have lost their friend too.

Just a reminder to be careful during graduation time.  Don’t take chances crossing roads and slow down.  It is better to make it some place safely and alittle late then not at all.

I took some video clips of the mock accident as well.  I will post them on my facebook today so head over there and check them out.  Keep in mind I am not a videographer and I was shooting with my camera not a video camera. FACEBOOK  To see the rest of the photos go to my STOREFRONT

And Bob is gonna kill me, but I had to share this one of him holding Asheley’s flowers and helping with the veil.   Bob was an awesome assistant.  He held coats, the flowers, carried my crap, and was helpful posing,  he sees little things I don’t.  Oh and he saved the day with his pocket knife huh Asheley.  I am a lucky girl to have such a great guy.

Sorry not to share more but Asheley and Eric are private people unlike me so I scaled down my posting.  The rest of their images will be in their gallery soon, please ask them for the password.

In case you didn’t know it, Asheley is my cousin, (her grandma Peggy is a cousin to my dad),we have always been close since we went to the same school and know the same people.  Oh, and one of my favorite pictures ever is one I took of her sister Connie Jo.  Thanks Asheley for asking me to be your photographer, I had fun.  Also I wish you happiness always!

Happy 80th Great Aunt Irene

Monday, February 9th, 2009

We had a wonderful time celebrating a wonderful lady!  Bob took alot of the photos since I left for awhile with some of the Goetz crew to watch Sam and Aliva kick butt on the basketball court.

Didn’t Bob do a good job, he grabbed this one of Aunt Irene with her grandkids…

Gotta share this one and tell the story behind it…. I try not to be noticed at weddings.  I do a pretty good job most of the time, but for some reason this little guy stared at me the entire way down the aisle.  It was so funny everyone got a chuckle out of it…

I had a blast shooting this wedding.  I have known Daniel for years but the wedding day was the first time I met Katie, and she is a sweetheart.  Oh, and the families…. They were wayyy tooo funny for me.

Gotta tell you about Larissa and Luella…  They might both check out my blog but I am pretty sure it’s Larissa Luella that is my big stalker.  While I was shooting formals I heard them talking behind me.  Well, she was trying to figure out how to get on my blog.  Well, I am big about getting my picture taken too so I decided we needed a good ole group picture of me with my 4-H buddies so here it is Larissa and Luella …..

medesi2008_410-copy

And I have one more surprise for you girls….

medesi2008_207-copy

Here’s the story behind the picture… Everyone was suppose to do a goofy pose, but instead of goofy, I think it looks more like she was trying to be a tiger????  This is the kind of stuff I dealt with the entire day.

One quick thing I have to mention, this was the first time Gwen and I took the time to eat cake.  I had to have some of Amie’s cake, and I am so glad I did, it was wonderful just like I know it would be.  I remember her entering cakes in 4-H and she always did an awesome job on decorating, but I never had the chance to taste one.
